Do Not Underestimate God
Brother Tse - Taiwan
Do you know God? Have you experienced God's almightiness? Have you experienced God's love? Have you been
chastised by God? If you have not, then do not underestimate God!
Philosophers of religion debate whether God exists or not. Each side can cite many reasons. Both sides
cannot come to any consensus, as both arguments may have their merits. Still, God's existence cannot be
proved or disproved by debate and has nothing to do with logic.
A common belief is that if we cannot detect something with our senses, then it doesn't exist. Yet, this
thinking is very arbitrary because there are many things that exist in the world that are outside the range
of our senses. Miniscule objects cannot be seen with the human eye but they still exist. The problem is with
our eyesight because we could see these tiny objects if we used a microscope. By the same reasoning, although
we cannot see God with our own eyes, can we then say that God does not exist? God is spirit and we cannot see
Him with our physical eyes. Rather, we require 'special equipment' to experience God's existence and that is
our spiritual senses. We have a soul within us. Anyone without a soul is dead whilst anyone with a soul is
alive. Our souls and God's spirit have similar characteristics, and are colourless, odourless and not confined
by space. Therefore, they have a pathway to connect with each other. So, the eyes of the soul are needed to
'see' God's existence. Open the eyes of your heart and you will be able to see God.
When you are in difficulties, you can pray to God and look upon His face and you will experience God's
almightiness. Since God is the creator of all things and has instilled orderliness in all that He has
created, He therefore has the power to change nature and produce miracles. God's words are not empty words,
and there are no obstacles to whatever He chooses to do. If you do not eat the apple, how can you know whether
it is sweet or not? If you do not pray to God, how would you know the extent of God's ability? God's love is higher than the heavens and deeper than the seas.
"The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does
not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are
above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far
has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has
compassion on those who fear him." (Psalms 103:8-13)
