Ordination Ceremony

2 October 2022 was a great day for the churches in Hong Kong. It was on this day that we held our first preacher ordination with Preacher Iris Chan officially becoming a True Jesus Church preacher. The ordination ceremony was held in Kowloon Church and conducted by Preacher Zhao Sihai as arranged by the International Assembly.

The gospel emerged in Hong Kong more than 90 years ago and this year was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Coordination Board. Looking back on the past decade, God’s gift of two young preachers fills us with great hope for the work ahead, and for this we are most grateful.

From ancient times to now, God has personally moved and called His workers. Just as He appeared to Moses in the burning bush and commanded him to lead the people out of Egypt; he was sent to rescue the people from sin. Later, the levites served full-time in the work of the tabernacle. In addition, there were priests, judges, prophets etc. They were workers in various time periods, wholly dedicated to God, and all a part of the history of the elect. In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus came in the flesh and preached the gospel of salvation. He called the twelve apostles, granted them power, and sent them to preach the gospel and to heal the sick. Evidently, no matter the era, God exults in driving the work of redemption alongside His people.

Today we also need full-time workers whose hearts have been moved and who feel the urge to work with God and strive for the Word in which we believe. Their work will be accepted by God, as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Rom 10:15) Thank God that in recent years, the churches in Hong Kong have seen two young preachers offering themselves up. They have overcome great difficulties and put aside their worldly pursuits to accomplish God’s will. In addition to being thankful, we also pray that God’s Spirit will be with them always, bless their work, and move more workers to step forward to serve Him. We should also be more forbearing, show care and support, encourage them more, and pray for them. If we can truly love one another, God will surely add to our numbers daily those who are being saved.
